Real Women June 2023

Meet Annie, Bethany, Bets, Brielle, Diane, Pibby, and Sasha!

ALL-INCLUSIVE, ANNIE

“Annie smelled of sweet soft powder and roses, and her favorite color was bright red! She always took my Great Grandmas (the girls) to appointments, errands, and out to lunch, and spent the rest of her time helping my Grandpa in the garden with their massive amounts of lilies or making beautifully unique pinecone wreaths. Annie's hobbies were just as beautifully amazing as she was: photography, flower pressing, bird watching (cardinals were her favorite), and collecting and hanging butterflies in shadow boxes. She gifted me memories I will cherish forever: washing my hair in the sink, letting my sister and I play in the rain in a huge rain puddle, watching "Laugh-In", listening to old country music, catching baby frogs all day while repeatedly telling us not to bring them in the house (guess what? We did!). I sometimes can smell her, hear her voice, and hear her hollering with a smile "Yoohoo!" to get our attention for a photo. She is one of the great loves of my life, and losing her when I was pregnant with my oldest son is something I will always be sad about. My children didn't get that gift of being held in her velvety soft arms, hearing her sweet giggle, or smelling that sweet rose smell. She was as bright and warm as her favorite crimson-red color, and as soft and gentle as the pink roses she smelled like. I am crying as I remember her. I would love for her to be honored, and my mom would be tickled, as she was a Dash wearer herself! The only thing I can remember her expressing dislike towards was when we sang "Barbara Ann" to her, that was her real name, she hated the song and I assumed "Barbara". I always related to that because I have always been "Becky" and Rebecca just never seemed to suit me.”

I LIKE YOUR BLING, BETHANY

One of the sweetest names I know, is this little fighter, Bethany Lynn. She has so much strength and spark, she always gives this momma strength. The story for nomination begins back when I needed the perfect mani for whenever baby time would come. I NEEDED a mani that was named after her. My husband picked the name and a few weeks before she arrived, he told me her name would be BETHANY LYNN. I searched for a nail dash and asked around. To my knowledge and others I had asked, there hasn’t been a Nail Dash named BETHANY ever. Right then I knew I needed to nominate her, but also because I love looking up to Bethany Hamilton and I read about her as a young girl. Naming my daughter Bethany gives me strength and shows me strength, I am just so blessed and in awe of how much she grows, and soars over milestones so far. So many prayers have brought her into the world. She fought through a NICU stay and together we overcome many hurdles during pregnancy that included a bowl surgery right after conception and a 2-vessel cord pregnancy.

SEQUINS FOR BETS

“My nominee is my grandmother. “Bets” was my grandfather’s nickname for my grandmother. This past November, we lost my grandfather to COVID Pneumonia completely unexpected. He was the rock & foundation of our family and my grandmother’s life. They were married for 54 years & have been together for almost 60 as they found each other at the age of 14 & 16, two kids growing up in rural, farm country Pennsylvania within adoptive families. Since losing my grandfather, Bets has been the strength for her 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, while making sure she keeps everything my Pap believed in alive. She’s the strongest woman I have ever known and I would love to have a product named after her, as “Bets” is what my grandfather called her as long as they were together. Their love was so strong and my grandmother’s strength is unbelievable, as a mom, military wife (Pap served in the Marines in Vietnam), grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.”

BEACH SUNSET, BRIELLE

“Brielle is my daughter. She was born with a condition called clubfoot which requires a lot of treatment as a baby. 10 weeks total of feet in casts and 1 surgery at 6 weeks old in between that. She has also had to wear braces for her whole life and we are finally (hopefully) at the end of that this year. She’s the strongest little girl and she is so involved in my business and loves mommy’s nails and I think it would be so cool to have one named after her.

SATIN GLOW, DIANE

Diane is my momma! She is one of the most kind, genuine human beings on this earth! She is my rock and supports me through all of my endeavors. She created all of the sweet "Treehouse" ornaments that were given to all employees as well as the ornaments that were given to the directors. She is a DIY queen! Love that woman!

PIBBY’S PRISM

Phyllis, (Pibby, or Aunt Phil, as many called her), was my mother! This coming February 6th will be 35 years since my mother passed away. She passed 4 days after I turned 20. My mother was a spitfire! She had so many people who loved and respected her. As a young adult who watched my mother fade away, I really didn't show her the respect and love that others showed her. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved my mother, but maybe didn't respect her the way I should. Almost 35 years later, I totally understand why she was respected so greatly. She was always there to help the less fortunate, ( we always had people living with us, who didn't have a place to live), she babysat v fire da children for free, she volunteered her free time to help others! Even as she was laying in her bed, fading from cancer, she was there to help other people. I don't often get emotional when I think of my mom, but I am very emotional as I am typing this!! I would do anything to have my mom back and to be able to show her the love and respect she deserved.

BIG DREAMS, SASHA

There is so much to say about this amazing woman. Sasha started a nonprofit in 2019 and it’s just growing and growing. It’s called Project Intentional and she helps women in the area make sure they can give their kids a Christmas along with other events throughout the year. Her event adopted 650 women this year. They go and get socks/me steal products/underwear and toys for kids, clothes and so much more. The whole event is just amazing. And she started it with a dream, inspired by her daughter. She was actually on the Kelly Clarkson show today too talking about it.https://fb.watch/hwNh7dL6RO/More in her non profit too.https://projectintentional.com/
