Inventory Updates
PRODUCT CLASSIFICATION
As Red Aspen continues to grow, we’re introducing a clearer, more predictable system for how products are classified and how discontinuations are communicated.
Core vs Limited
Core products are intended to be around long-term. They help build and support a lasting, successful business. They are reviewed each Spring and Fall, and if needed, are discontinued after advance notice. Limited/Seasonal products are time-bound, seasonal, trend-driven, or inventory-based, and are introduced with the expectation that they will rotate out often with short or no advance notice.
Core Products
What is the difference between Red Aspen’s Core and Limited products?
Core products are intended to be around long-term. They help build and support a lasting, successful business. They are reviewed each Spring and Fall, and if needed, are discontinued after advance notice. Limited/Seasonal products are time-bound, seasonal, trend-driven, or inventory-based, and are introduced with the expectation that they will rotate out often with short or no advance notice.
Why is Red Aspen changing their product discontinuation approach?
As Red Aspen grows, we want a predictable way to manage the lifecycle of a product. This framework standardizes how products are classified, when Core products can be discontinued, and how changes are communicated.
Will Red Aspen ever discontinue a Core product?
Yes. Core products will be reviewed regularly, and if needed, will be retired during the Spring or Fall season with 90+ days notice.
Why did Red Aspen choose Spring and Fall for the discontinuation cycles?
Spring and Fall were selected to occur ahead of Brand Ambassador events like Spring Fling and Girls Weekend. This makes it easier to communicate what products are being retired while we're making room for new product launches!
Discontinuing products in the Spring helps create last-chance opportunities during slower months like April, while discontinuing products in the Fall help support upselling opportunities during the holiday season.
Can Red Aspen’s Limited/Seasonal products be discontinued at any time?
Yes. Limited/Seasonal products are inventory-based and may sell out or retire without extended notice.
Are individual shades within a Red Aspen Core category subject to change?
Yes. While the category may remain, specific shades may be refreshed or retired over time. Pressed Powder and Lip Gloss are examples of categories that may have shades retire. Makeup will be determined by category and individual shades, and we will communicate changes in advance, when possible. Nail Dashes will be categorized as Core or Limited.
Will Red Aspen ever bring back discontinued products?
Generally, no, especially for Limited items. However, refreshed versions or similar products may launch in the future.

Will we get guidance on what to recommend when products leave?
Yes! Additional training is available with curated product recommendations to help you confidently support your customers.
Will there be instances when a Red Aspen product shows as “Low Stock” before it’s communicated to the field?
Yes, as we are rolling out this new, standardized process, this could occur. In this initial Spring cycle, some products may begin to show as “Low Stock” before a full field announcement.
Moving forward, Red Aspen’s goal is to ensure that full field communication occurs prior to products appearing as “Low Stock.” The biggest exception to this intent is unpredictable and potentially accelerated through a product selling out quickly and unexpectedly.
Will Red Aspen still produce a product turn-off list every month?
Yes. Limited/Seasonal products are time-bound, seasonal, trend-driven, or inventory-based and are introduced with the expectation that they will rotate out, often with short or no advance notice. Core products will not be included on the monthly turn-off lists.
