Stick Makeup is Growing in Popularity - Here’s Why You Should Add Them To Your Routine

If you’re used to seeing your blush, bronzer, and highlight in a compact - then seeing these same products in a tube may be a bit mind boggling. Not to mention, they’re slowly popping up in every makeup store, on every makeup website, and in every celebrity's hand. What are these “makeup sticks” and why are they taking over the makeup industry?

What Are Makeup Sticks?

An alternative to powdered and liquid products, Stick Makeup is a cream based product that easily melts into your skin when you apply. Red Aspen has three makeup stick collections: Sculpt Sticks, Cheek Sticks, and Highlight Sticks.

You can use Sculpt Sticks to contour or bronze your face - up to you! Cheek Sticks are blush, meant to add color back into your skin. And last - but certainly not least - Highlight Sticks are just that: Highlighter! You can use these to add a touch of shimmer to your look.

Whether you’re going for a full glam look, or want to add a touch of color on a “no makeup makeup” day, Stick Makeup is a perfect addition to your beauty collection.

Why The Hype for Makeup Sticks?

With all the biggest beauty influencers showing off their makeup sticks, we’re sure you’re wondering: “What’s all this hype for?” Great question! The thing that attracts consumers the most about makeup sticks is their formula.

Because it’s cream based, Red Aspen Stick Makeup is non-greasy, lightweight, and blendable - and you don’t have to sacrifice your color payoff! Our Stick Makeup is perfectly pigmented so color will shine through without having to apply multiple layers.

Red Aspen Stick Makeup is made with good-for-you ingredients like Tocopheryl Acetate - a type of Vitamin E that will help to condition your skin and serve as an antioxidant to help to protect your skin barrier from environmental stressors.

Stick Makeup is more hydrating than powders and provides a natural finish that’s great for all skin types, but especially dry or mature skin. Not to mention, its blendability makes it very beginner friendly because it blends very smoothly into the skin, allowing any mistakes to easily be buffed out!

Red Aspen Stick Makeup is buildable as well, so you can start off light and add more until you have the perfect color - all without it ending up cakey.

If you struggle with oily skin or prefer a matte look, then powdered products are what may work best for you. Red Aspen’s Powdered Products have a matte finish and can be used on their own, or on top of creams and liquids for enhanced color and extended staying power. Powders are also great for all skin types, but are especially great for oily skin or those living in humid climates.

To sum all of that up - the hype surrounding Stick Makeup is well earned due to the products blendability, hydrating appearance, and easy use!

How Do I Apply Stick Makeup?

Now that we know why Stick Makeup is so great, let’s talk about how to apply it. Luckily, the application process is very simple - all you need is your Sculpt, Cheek, or Highlight Stick and your favorite blending tool. We recommend our F08 Foundation Brush, our F09 Buffing Brush or one of our Makeup Sponges.

To apply Stick Makeup, add a few dots or a swipe directly onto your skin or onto your blending tool, and then lightly buff the product into your skin with a sweeping or circular motion.

For our Sculpt Stick, you may add touches to your forehead and underneath your cheekbones, whereas our Cheek and Highlight Stick would be best applied to the apples of your cheeks or on top of your cheekbones.

Stick Makeup should be applied after your Skin Tint and Concealer, and following application, we recommend a light dusting of Aspen Set to keep your hard work in place through all the day's stressors.

How Do I Choose My Shade?

We know - there’s so many options to choose from, how are you ever supposed to know which shades to try! We’ve got your back girl.

Sculpt Stick

Our Sculpt Stick comes in four different shades: Taupe Notch, Bronzed Beauty, Oh So Suede, and Cocoa Couture. While Taupe Notch and Oh So Suede are the lighter shades and Bronzed Beauty and Cocoa Couture are our deeper shades, you can choose whichever Sculpt Stick you please to achieve the level of bronze you desire.

Cheek Stick

You have five different shades of Cheek Stick to choose from! Rosy Outlook, Poppy Pink, Peachy Keen, Coral Red, and Berry Mauve. No matter your blush goals, Red Aspen Cheek Sticks will give you a perfect flush of color. For a bright, colorful color, try Coral Red or Poppy Pink. For a subtle, neutral blush, test out Rosy Outlook and Peachy Keen. Want to experiment and try a unique purple blush? Try Berry Mauve - you’ll be pleased with just how good she looks.

Highlight Stick

Choose from four different dazzling Highlight Stick shades: Diamonds & Pearls, Frosé, Lucky Penny, and Go For Gold. If you prefer a cool toned blush, then Diamonds & Pearls is the stick for you. For a warmer shade, try Lucky Penny and Go For Gold - our copper and gold tones. If you want a stick that acts like a blush and highlighter in one, then Frosé is the one for you.
