Celebrate Your Resilience!
Red Aspen is continuing our 2024 Loyalty Box theme of Affirmations! As we celebrate positive self talk and self care, we’re featuring a different theme each month to inspire you to challenge and overcome negative thoughts so you can make positive changes in your life. No matter where you are in life, let 2024 be the year to remember you are strong, you are capable, and most importantly, you are resilient!
Our February Loyalty Box theme is “She is Resilient.” Our second subscription box of 2024 includes gorgeous press-on nail kits and faux mink lashes to inspire you to get out there, celebrate your wins, and enjoy quality time with loved ones! Building resilience takes time, strength, and help from those around you. There might be some setbacks along the way, but you’ve got a village of support to back you up! As you push on and take things by the day, we’ve got a list of activities to help you celebrate your resilience and add some excitement and style your month! Read below to see some of our top ideas to help you celebrate your strengths and make the most of your month this February.
Celebrate Your Wins with an Accomplishment Jar
If there’s one surefire way to build resilience, it’s by celebrating your wins. Whether that’s a recent job promotion, a milestone crossed in your health journey, checking things off of your to-do post-it, or even the completion of a few items on your bucket list, it’s important to take the time to reflect on your successes. Reflection with positive language can be genuinely impactful, especially when you’ve accomplished something you’ve been working towards for weeks, months, or even years of your life.
To that end, creating an Accomplishment Jar and keeping it in your household can help to highlight the importance of that reflection. You get to celebrate your achievements, and you get to do it in a way that’s fun and reminds you daily of how amazing you are! Not only that, but you can include your kids (should you have any) in the activity too, helping to build their confidence and celebrate their wins as a family activity. The process is simple, and you can start by sitting down and thinking about or discussing one or two reasons you might be proud of yourself that day. Whether it’s being kind to others or trying something new, nothing is too big or too small when it comes to the accomplishment jar. If you’re making it a family activity, write down your accomplishments or have your kids draw them if they prefer, with each of you placing your accomplishment in the jar to be reviewed later in the week. As your week comes to a close, you can revisit your accomplishment jar to go over how you accomplished these victories!
By taking the time to express these positive emotions, provide honest feedback (even to yourself), and practice reflection, you can learn to celebrate your successes and support a more growth-oriented mindset. Equipped with this mindset, you’ll soon discover that you’re more likely to excel when faced with a problem. In short, it’s a win-win for you, but also for your family should you choose to include them. If you’d then like to share your successes or your journey on social media, you can do so in a way that feels comfortable. Start by dressing in your most confidence-inspiring outfit. Keep things simple if you like, but don’t be afraid to kick things up a notch well with a cute new hairstyle, some flawless makeup, or a gorgeous pair of press-on nails. We highly recommend Red Aspen’s “Alyce Ann is Resilient” dark blue ombre nail design in short square to top things off. Hey, you might even inspire other women to share their own resilience journeys, and women lifting up other women is what it’s all about!
Reflect on Your Successes with a Resilience Journal
We mentioned it above, but it bears repeating: building resilience takes time. A person who lacks confidence won’t necessarily gain it back overnight, and that’s OK! We all need a little help sometimes! That being said, you can continue to build perseverance and learn to trust in your abilities with a variety of methods. An Accomplishment Jar is one of them, but you can always opt for something concrete like starting a Resilience Journal to chronicle your journey.
Even if you’ve never kept a journal or diary before, there’s no need to worry! You can keep things as simple as you like. You can start by writing down examples of challenges you’ve already overcome. This will help to remind you of the times when you felt your strongest or most confident. Maybe you’ve begun stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things with your makeup or outfits. In this case, something like a new pair of wispy, elegant Faux Mink Lashes might be a bigger step for you than someone who’s already used to these kinds of products. It’s a small one yes, but our February Loyalty Box includes items like these so everyday women can feel good about the gamble!
From there, you can move on to more gratitude or affirmation-style journaling. You can write down things you’re thankful for in your life (even by the day), then focus on things that are good about yourself. For instance, you can start a journal entry with something like “I love myself because…” or “I am proud of the following in my lifetime…” You can even go deeper, writing out things you want to accomplish each day or diving into confidence-boosting prompts like “I can help others by…”
Whatever you choose, know that your journal can be as personal or impersonal as you want. The key is to write, and the rest should come naturally. Before you know it, you’ll find that you’re a much stronger and much more confident individual. That’s a win no matter how you look at it!
Build Resilience by Taking Up a New Sport!
Speaking of strength and confidence, nothing says “I am strong, capable, and fearless” like taking up a new sport! Whether you prefer to run around a field or you’re the kinda gal who enjoys hitting the slopes with skis or a snowboard, sports are one of the absolute best ways to build up resilience.
For starters, team sports teach you to participate with others towards a common cause that’s bigger than yourself. If you’re the kind of person who normally prefers to work alone, a new sport can challenge your mindset and teach you the importance of working with and relying on others to overcome adversity. Sure, you might mess up or risk a few injuries along the way, but it’s how you respond to those setbacks that matter. The effort and consistency you display while trying to learn a new sport carries over to other aspects of your life, teaching you the value of pushing forward and not giving up, even when the going gets really, really tough.
Best of all, you have tons of options when it comes to recreational sports. From badminton to pickleball, baseball, kickball, and more, there are a wide variety of low-key, easy-to-learn sports you can enjoy with friends or as a walk-in at your local rec center. If you prefer something outside and you’re lucky enough to live near a ski resort, February is also the perfect time to try your hand at skiing or snowboarding. Snow sports are an amazing way to enjoy the outdoors, and you can easily make a weekend out of the experience with close friends or that special someone in your life!
While you’re taking a breather at the ski lodge, don’t forget to share your experience (and those funny falls) on social media! Since your gloves won’t be in the way, this is also the perfect time to show off some cute, winter-inspired nails. Our February Loyalty Box includes the “Dema is Resilient” nail dash in short square and white glitter design for a fun, snow-inspired mani mix-up. Alternatively, the medium coffin-shaped “Tamara is Resilient” nail dash will look just as beautiful, especially if you want something a little more formal for evening dinner plans.
Plan a Valentine’s Hiking Adventure with Someone Special!
Speaking of special occasions, it’s no secret that February just so happens to be the most romantic month of the year. If you haven’t already made plans for Valentine’s Day, why not throw a romantic hike into the mix? Sure, it might be different than the usual dinner reservations, but you’d be surprised at how wonderful it can be to try something a little different!
There are a host of reasons to consider a Valentine’s Day hike in lieu of the usual dinner date. For starters, hiking with your partner is an amazing way to communicate and connect with one another. Not only do you get to share in the experience of overcoming obstacles, but you get to do so in a way that’s uninterrupted, with your full attention devoted to one another for the duration of the hike. On top of that, hiking adventures are a great way to build up resilience and stay active at any age. You can choose from a variety of low to moderate hikes in your area, and you can mix things up with a cute picnic or even some fun challenges around the trail if you’re feeling adventurous!
If the holiday happens to fall around the time of meeting someone new, a shorter Valentine’s Day hike can be a super fun, comfortable way to break the ice. Not only does it give you the opportunity to move around and enjoy the views rather than awkwardly staring at each other, but the shared adventure means you’ll have plenty to talk about. Should you decide to top off the experience with dinner plans after all, Red Aspen’s “Stef is Resilient” nail dash can add the perfect finishing touch to any Valentine’s Day outfit. With its brown hue and brown glitter ombre design, it’s a bold statement that fits the feel of the holiday effortlessly, giving you one more thing to smile about on your special day.
